Dot Net Nuke Complaint

I just finished a short contract job working with Dot Net Nuke.  For the most part, the software is straight forward.  Fairly easy to setup and run… However, skinning is another issue.  I’m not going to say that it is difficult, however the fact that there are multiple levels of CSS files makes it complicated.  After about two weeks my task was completed and one issue seemed to be a rather glaring issue:  Documentation.

Documentation seems very much to be the issue.  the marjority of the time i’ve ever had issues with programming I’ve typed something similar to the issue into Google and gotten my answer.  Dot Net Nuke… Not even close.  Does nothing rank well for dot net nuke?  Even the documentation I could find was dated and vague.  DNN can be a valuable tool for web developers…. the documentation that seems to come with it, sparse at best.

Twitter Needs “Handshakes”

i think twitter needs something more to promote interaction, something of a handshake.  like ok you’re at a party and there are always those who hover and just kinda take in the conversations, but usually after a handshake with people they know you are engaged and part of the conversation and whats going on.

You get people who follow you but do they hover on the conversation or are they engaged and waiting for the right tweet to comment on?  Who’s in and who’s out?  Also I know i’ve added people who haven’t followed me back.  I’d like to be more engaged in their tweets, should i “say something”?

Any other thoughts?

Edit:  Once again using the Twitter as a party example, yes I could always just use @username to get someone’s attention but doesn’t that make me that guy who comes across the room to enter a conversation when no one knew he was there.  I just think let’s get some courtesy into Twitter, conversations evolve but when can/should new people jump in?

Obama ’08 iphone app

Just noticed there is an Obama ’08 iPhone app in the app store. Great way to extend to tech friendly voters Obama campaign. Best use of the app store that I’ve seen in a while.

Inspiration – Scott Hansen/Tycho

Scott Hansen – FITC 08

Tycho – PBS (Live)

Basically Scott Hansen who is a phenominal graphic designer by day also performs as Tycho, performing a myriad of trip-hop, electronic, instrumental music.    I wanted to post these videos because over the past few months I’ve found him to be one of the most influencial artists.  Graphically inspiring, and also great music to code to.  That’s a winner in my book!  Check out his sites.  (http://tychomusic.com / http://blog.iso50.com)
