Ruby and .NET play together?

I’ve been trying to do some research/learning of Ruby and Ruby on Rails.  After doing more than my fair share of command line coding I decided to start looking around for how to create a UI with Ruby so stuff I code is actually “pretty” for the user.

After about 10 minutes of Googling, I came across this link.  Who would have guessed Ruby and .NET play well together.  I guess I should look more into .NET 3.0 and XAML.  Hmm, more work to be done on spring break i guess.

BIG CHANGES in the works

So honestly i’m trying to step it up on this blog.  Here’s the low down on what I’ve been faced with lately in the past few weeks:

I found out last week that I lost my job at the consulting company I had been at.  I have no hard feelings toward anyone there.  It was simply a case of not having enough business for me to stay busy, and with the way the company wanted to move, my skill set didn’t match so my position was removed.  That’s life i guess.

I’ve also been busy working on my senior project for school.  Only 6 weeks left to complete it.  Oh crap, only 6 weeks left until I graduate and I’m still looking for a job.

Due to my lack of a job I actually have taken some action to sell off some of my domains and sites.  I’ve pulled back some stuff so that this blog is now the only one I am posting on.  I’m trying to make an effort to grow this blog in several directions as well as grow my number of readers.

Everyone needs to know what i’m doing, NOW!

So this morning I was doing the normal email/blog check.  Since getting back on Facebook I’ve realized how suprisingly useful (or stupid) status updates could be.  Then I realized the following:

In the current world of the Internets, everyone wants to know what you are doing NOW!

That’s the exact purpose of Twitter, Facebook Status, oh and for the verbose, a normal blog.  Oh and my Facbook Status “Matt is a .NET ninja.”  Yeah, u read that correctly.  I’ve been doing a lot of coding lately.  The status only seems to fit.

Google has love for mobililty!

So last night I decided to see if i could find some articles giving data on task vs. place performance relative to workplace mobility. Or basically i wanted to see if there was any research done showing if a user or employee is more productive in a certain place or if location is a moot point. I searched the string “mobile work scenarios + task vs place” Below is the screenshot of what I saw:

Google Results

Maybe it’s just me, but I like seeing a link for MSDN Guidelines for Mobile Development. I think Google is inadvertently showing us that they support the movement to a ubiquitous computing platform even if we are still yet to see the “Google UMPC”. Or possibly they are putting a bit more into the Android than we thought?
